Btw gathering multiple things at once can speed up the process a little bit. You cannot do it for mining and foraging but ranching and farming can be shortened: I placed all my vegetables and animals in 4-sized squares, that's obvious. What's not so obvious, and I only figured it out after playing the game for like 3 weeks, is that you can dash between two of these squares diagonally to speed up the process. When you stand on one type of vegetable or animal, you press F, loot, wait for like a sec and only then can you press F again. If you dash to the other type of material, you can press F immediately. The dashing distance is ideal for runeblade, I'm not sure about other classes but I think others can find a similar way to do it too. It takes very little practice, but it saves you a few seconds, which can result in not having to wait for one more cooldown of the boosting potion.
While waiting for farming or ranching cooldown, you can do the other type that's not on cooldown, and for mining and foraging I usually just start playing music or do some crafting until the timer is ready.

Actually you can solve this much simpler by simply making a 2x3 rectangle of the same type. The cooldown is not type dependent, it's node dependent. That's why I've made all my fields 2x3 so you can simply walk from one center to the other center which gives you exactly the result you just described without having to dash for it and without having to involve a new type (which would get complicated since they don't share drop rates). I also only harvest at houses where the owner has done the same thing in order to save time.
This trick can actually be used at mining and foraging nodes as well for a 50% boost in gathering time by simply alternating 3 out of 4 nodes at a time. I've described this in more detail in the MS2 Wiki. It seems that most people aren't using this tactic.

    Hey Dan!
I did use the "alternating 3 out of 4 nodes" method before, but for me it didn't always worked. Maybe I pressed F too early, I don't know, but sometimes after I gathered from 3 nodes and turned to the 4th one, it only gave me one drop instead of four when it clearly should have given four, since the chance was still high. It happened like 20-25% of the time, and for me, also, it is much more complicated to turn around in a small spot to separate 3 nodes first.
I guess making 2×3 tiles might make it work, since there's a little time passing between two gatherings.
Tbh, the fact that droprates are different was never a problem for me, because I placed the plants with similar drop rates next to each other, and since I usually stop gathering after the chance gets low, it just goes like this: average-average___low-average___low-low. So I gather one or two times with low chance until the other one next to it also becomes low.
Apart from all this talking, if the 2×3 method always gives full (4) drops, that might be the best solution. I'm afraid I'm too lazy to redesign my gathering roof, so I'll stick to dashing for some time, haha.

    Awkin is right.
I had 1000 old armor boxes and opening 1 only gives me 1 Fragment. yes... FRAGMENT... so i had to click 3x 40x to get 40 fragments to get 1 part , 120 clicks for 1 part is just to much work so I just Deleted all the old armor boxes out of my inventory cuz it was messed up.. i had daily's to finish ;]
If u did not had this issue then you just got lucky, but alot ppl got the same problem as Awkin.

Ok, we might talk about different things here. I talked about the box fragments that you get for dismantling gear (10 fragments for dismantling 1 piece of gear). I have no idea what other gear boxes you guys talk about, you get the boxes if you convert the fragments not the other way around. Maybe I'm missing something?

Can you change how the old armor fragment boxes are currently converted? We have to select which type of fragment we want 1 by 1, takes 3 actions to get 1 fragment converted. I have 1650 old armor box fragments, I'm not going to spend hours clicking through menus to convert them.

I think you actually need 40 fragments to convert into 1 box, therefore your 1650 fragments will provide you 41 boxes. Now, if you're really bad at clicking, it will take you 2 minutes to open all of them.

And I don't really see how it could be any more simple than it is now.

Well, you aren't even talking about the same thing. The old armor fragment boxes from before the sky fortress update could be turned into any piece of armor. The new boxes are either helm/shoe/glove or top/bottom boxes. The old fragments have to converted into one or the other, 1 by 1. Once you convert 40 of the fragments you can get 1 box. I would have to convert my 1650 fragments 1 by 1 into either top/bottom or helm/glove/shoe box fragments and then I can use 40 of those to get 1 piece of armor.

    So simple...

Well, you must play another version of this game then, because I converted a few of these "old" fragments into boxes and it works the same way it worked before the new patch. I didn't have to convert the fragments themselves into new fragments, they can be converted into armor box directly.
