The ENTIRE GAME should be rebooted.

    Combat
    • Adopt a multi-dimensional stat system rather than single stat (damage) by revamping damage, defense, accuracy, avoidability, critical rate formulas
    • Adopt the idea of a stat build, e.g. DEF build, pure STR, etc. by revamping stats and adding new ones, e.g. "Stamina" for DEF and HP bonus, "Vitality" for SP and M.DEF bonus
    • Remove stat reset option
    • Revamp all skills so that each skill serves a purpose, and adopt a skill build tree
    • Remove skill reset option
    • Remove AOE from most skills aside from a few
    • Add attack and defense type attributes to incorporate attack/defense style strengths and weaknesses/resistance based on weapon, attack style, particular skill used and class roles (look at RS's crush, stab, etc. attack styles as an example - add more elemental damage)

    Equipment
    • Remove all pets
    • Remove all gemstones
    • Remove all bonus attributes
    • Lower the maximum enchantment level to +8-10
    • Make it very difficult to achieve +8-10 (increase rarity of enchantment items, add chance of equipment breakage)
    • Remove or drastically lower the number of onyx crystals required for enchantment
    • Adjust Basic Attributes so that they incorporate different stats, with a large degree of randomness that can be altered
    • Add normal equipment drops to normal mobs, rare equips to dungeon bosses in specific maps
    • Remove concept of gear score
    • Abolish equipment tiers and remove all equipment ranked Epic and above
    • Make all equipment tradeable
    • Change total character attack and defense to match the sum from the equipment
    • Scale equipment stats appropriately based on level and stat formula

    Content
    • Remove all dungeons as they currently are
    • Add party quests for different level groups
    • Increase HP and damage of mobs
    • Lower exp rewarded from main quest line by 3-4 times
    • Add dungeon maps around the island with dungeon bosses that drop rare equipment

    Maps/Exploration
    • Scale all cube dimensions by a factor of 1/2 or lower (increase "resolution" of game)
    • Increase size of all maps by a factor of 2 or greater (look at how beautiful games like FFXIV are with their large maps)
    • Allow more utilization of mouse and wheel, e.g. to allow rotation and more degrees of freedom and to enable monster targeting
    • Re-theme all maps so that they fit a central region, e.g. Victoria Island could be comprised of Lith Harbor, Henesys, Kerning, Perion and Ellinia similar to MS1 (why are all these other extra maps here? they do not fit the central theme of the island, e.g. Ludibrium could be categorized as another island)
    • (Additional) Add day/night/weather system
    • Remove helicopters
    • Remove taxis except for a few central locations
    • Remove flying mounts

    Life Skills
    • Revamp them so that they are more relevant, e.g. armor crafting, onyx crafting, potion making

I agree - The entire game just needs to be rebooted. It sounds like naysaying but come on - most of the content is just wasted. Short answer: The game is NOT intuiative or simple like it's predesscor MS1. You cannot enjoy the 'content' just by leveling up like in MS1 (easy, and simple idea). You MUST grind out MONTHS worth of RNG time-gated gear (uhh?), gemstones and gem dust, and a level 50 pet. It's not an "option" for the "more-committed" players, it's the ONLY way.

This game is not for people with limited playing time. If you like going to work after work, that's what this game feels like.

Get rid of the story line and make a more organic world with interesting quests and NPCs. The game play mechanics need an overhaul like others have covered, but as a RPG it should play like a RPG. Give us something to do other than kill stuff arbitrarily.

    Stats and Stuff:
    1. Treat SP like MP and allow it to increase rather than stay at a static number
    2. Diversity for stat routes like that other person suggested so that we don't just dump everything into 1 stat
    3. Scale down the damage output of classes so that we deal like 1k instead of 10k to make it more like pre big bang maple
    4. Level cap is 200 like old maple before the level cap increase

    Job Classes:
    1. All skills have a purpose in some way
    2. Summons for some classes (wizard can choose between Ifrit and the ice guy (whatever his name is), and maybe a lightning one, too.
    3. Increase movement speed of Assassin (if they don't already have it)
    4. Pirate class?? Cygnus Knights????
    5. LINK SKILLS???????

    Items:
    1. Add in non-weapon weapons from the first game like the sky skis and what not

    Dungeons/raids/whatever you call them:
    1. Remove most of the dungeons and turn the ones left into party quests (which have varied rewards from outfits to rare gear etc)

    Areas:
    1. Make Ludibrium its own area
    2. Add in other places like Orbis, El Nath, Aqua Road
    3. Leafre???
    4. World Tour areas like Zipangu

    Monsters:
    1. Bosses from the first game making an appearance, like Eliza, Pianus etc
    2. Increase exp from monsters? At least from bosses.

    Story:
    1. Stop giving so much exp from story quests so that we don't quickly go from lv1 to 60

Make job advancement after level 80. Depending on which tree you choose to go with you advance to the next job. Rank 2 of the 2nd job can be at level 100.

I agree with most of what you said. Problem is Nexon wants to adopt the modern MS1/WoW approach which is to rush everyone to max level (or high enough level) to begin the repetitive chore of bossing/raiding and completing dailies. Because everyone is stuck at the same level doing the same content, and equipment/tier upgrade is used as a substitute for leveling, there is no diversity in stat value in this game. Like modern MS1, it is one-dimensional and horribly simplistic in its mechanics, as a player's goal and worth revolves around DPS and, to a lesser extent, knowledge of dodging hits. The MS1 population plummeted when this crappy simplified, rush-to-cap, upgrade/damage-focused style of progression was implemented. By adopting the same simplified, one-dimensional style of progression it's clear Nexon has learned absolutely nothing, and we can observe this payoff on the (Steam) population trend for the last 9 months since the game was released.

Wow, after reading through some of the posts in this thread, it sounds like some of you guys want them to kill the game and make a new one from scratch. xD

I really hope you're wrong about this, since that would kill my interest in the game entirely.
There are better games out there if that's the audience they're trying to cater to.
And frankly, no matter how hard they try they're never going to win that war...
Simply because the art-style is too cutesy to win the hardcore-serious gamers over.

The sad part is, I understand and am inclined to agree that's the direction things are headed in...
I should really stop reading the forums >_>

r u able 2 get good equipment, like the yellow grade without the requirement of friends/guild?
Id love 2 b able 2 do it solo at the cost of it being a lot harder/longer
